Remote monitoring via IO-Link

Remote monitoring of light curtains via IO‒ Link

IO-Link is an IEC 61131-9 standardized point-to-point communication protocol allowing sensors and actuators exchange data with the controller.
The use of the F39-SGIT-IL3 Intelligent Tap allows monitoring of process information (e.g., light intensity information, unstable state information, light curtain internal status information, error log) and settings of the F3SG-SR/PG Safety Light Curtain from the host controller via IO-Link.

Application examples of monitoring of safety light curtains via IO-Link

Application examples of monitoring of safety light curtains via IO-Link
  • Monitor the status of the F3SG-SR/PG Safety Light Curtain from a remote location.
Determine whether to perform maintenance such as beam adjustment or cleaning.
  • Easily find incorrect or faulty connection and incorrect installation by checking IDs (manufacturer, sensor type, model) of light curtains.
  • Minimize machine downtime by locating light curtain errors and identifying possible causes and remedies.
  • Build a system to suggest the optimal timing for cleaning light curtains based on light intensity and status of light curtains using the user-created program for the host (PLC or PC).
  • Optimize maintenance timing by monitoring power-ON time.

* Settings cannot be backed up or restored via IO-Link.

What is IO-Link?

IO-Link is an IEC 61131-9 standardized point-to-point communication protocol allowing sensors and actuators exchange data with the controller.
IO-Link allows not only typical sensor and actuator signals (ON/OFF signals) but also setting parameters and device status information to be communicated between sensors (e.g., photoelectric sensors, proximity sensors, flow sensors) or actuators and the controller (PLC). This makes it possible to build a system to monitor status and information of sensors and actuators in factories from the PLC.
For details of IO-Link, see here.

* For details of IO-Link connection of the F3SG-SR/PG Safety Light Curtain, refer to the manual.

What is intelligent tap?

Light curtain settings can be backed up and restored using the intelligent tap without connecting a PC at manufacturing sites.

When mated
IP67G protection allows use in wet and oil-mist environments.
